Climate Action Planning

Planning is central to successful GHG reduction programs and sustainable development.  We bring to the table multiple stakeholder groups to determine the strengths and weaknesses of your community. GHG Inventory and Benchmarking

The first step to meeting voluntary or required GHG reduction goals is determining where you currently are. We use tested methods to determine the GHG emissions levels released in your community.  We go beyond Carbon Dioxide and deliver telling analysis to help you prioritize action.  We baseline and determine emission rate increases. We look to the future and forecast emissions based on current activity and growth rates and recommend GHG reduction targets that fit your community.

Carbon Reduction and Sequestration Strategies

Based on the unique characteristics of your community we recommend and design a range of GHG reduction and sequestration strategies.  We take a multi-sector approach and view solutions from all angles to look beyond carbon and uncover co-benefits that will save tax payer money, create opportunity for healthier lifestyles, develop economic opportunity and educate.   As always we begin by listening to the concerns and desires of your community and look to leverage community-wide and regional activities.  We build partnership and explore outside and innovative funding mechanisms. 

Ecosystem Services Analysis

Your community is supported by the ecosystem it resides in.  Clean water, tree canopy, biodiveristy, soil quality and air are all requirements for a healthy city.  They also reduce the need for expensive infrastructure and reduce energy loads.  Additionally, today's emphasis on alternative, locally generated energy makes it even more important to know your solar, wind, geothermal and hydrological assets. "Green" Grant Facilitation

The 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is considered by many to be the country's green recovery program. Billions of dollars became available for the implementation of programs that reduce GHGs, create green collar jobs, increase energy efficiency, deploy alternative energy and increase the use of alternative fuels.  But the grant opportunities don't end with the ARRA.  Agencies, NGOs and Fortune 500 companies are offering billions more.   Communities throughout the country are vying for these dollars but many are struggling to develop the innovative, cutting edge and sustainable programs and partnership that are required. New GHG emissions and fossil fuel reduction monitoring and transparency requirements are making the task even more difficult and staff time is at a premium. On top of all that the application periods are blazingly short.  These grants provide incredible opportunity for the few communities that are able deploy resources and meet the requirements.  WAP Sustainability's grant services will make your community one of the few.
